Fitness First Philippines Launches Spartan GX Class Designed to Prepare Reebok Spartan Racers

  15 Aug 2017

August 15, 2017 – Fitness First Philippines in partnership with the Reebok Spartan Race launched an exciting new group workout that’s meant to prepare racers for the tough obstacleladen run set next month. This workout can also be done by individuals who want to develop their strength and stamina like a Spartan.

Known as the world’s premiere obstacle event, the Reebok Spartan Race hits our shores on September 16, 2017 at the Timberland grounds in San Mateo, Rizal. There will be barb wires, fire, lots of climbing through ropes, walls, and barriers and crawling through mud to get to the finish line. It’s the toughest race to hit the country yet.

To help participants prepare, a 45-minute group class called Spartan GX was designed for racers to get stronger, fitter, and faster to withstand the grind on race day. As Spartan’s official fitness partner, Fitness First Philippines exclusively offers this group workout across all its branches for for its members. Registered racers also get to experience the Spartan GX class through a 1 day free trial by simply showing their race confirmation email at the club reception.

Partnering with Spartan Philippines is part of Fitness First’s effort to showcase its diversity and how its top end facilities support different fitness journeys.

“We’re highly excited to be part of the Spartan Race as its fitness partner. Through the Spartan GX classes, we get to help the racers and our members be at their best and finish strong. It also showcases how much fitness training has evolved in our clubs, too. This is a part of our commitment to our members, to constantly innovate to help them go further in their fitness journey,” shares Mark Ellis, Fitness First’s Country Manager.

"Spartan is more than a race, it is a lifestyle. With the Spartan GX program at Fitness First, you can be a Spartan every day. We are incredibly excited to be working with Fitness First in developing this program. Our quest is to rip people off the couch and promote optimized fitness and health. With Spartan GX, no challenge is too big and their potential is limitless,” adds Michael Reyes, Spartan Race Philippine’s Race Director.

Led by Spartan GX certified trainers, the routines racers will do in each class essentially mimicsthe types of movements that they will need to do on race day—exercises that make the body move the way it’s meant to.

Each workout will make participants, crawl climb, hang, jump, lift, lunge, push, pull, run, sprint, and squat throughout the 45-minute minute class. Every session is designed to build one’s strength and endurance to be Spartan race-ready. Coaching sessions on race preparation and nutrition will also be conducted. Classes will be available on different days and various times each week and are free for all members.

Fitness First is also organizing outdoor community Spartan GX Workouts which are open to the public on September 2 at Westage,Alabang and September 9 at the Quezon City Memorial Circle. More Spartan GX Community Workouts will be announced soon.

Fitness First members who sign up to join the Spartan Race will get a 20% discount on the race fee.
